Hemp Range Supplier Statement

All our Hemp products are environmentally friendly and do not cause deforestation, but in fact help reduce it. We manufacture unique products at a high standard of quality. All our products are made by skilled artisans. We select our sources carefully to be 100% free of child labor.

We mainly concentrate on promotion of Nepalese handmade products to encourage and develop the skills and lifestyle of people from the hilly and mountainous regions where the raw materials originate. We employ as many workers as possible from a range of social and economic levels, while offering benefits such as health-care and education to their children. We believe in fair trade leading to social benefits and are not focused on profit alone.

Fair Trade

The majority of our products are Fair-Trade.  We like to buy fair and benefit the communities that make our products.  Our candle range is close to our heart by supporting the Dalit people of Mumbai.  The Dalit candles are simple, beautiful and scented with coconut and lavender oils. The foundation that created the charity spacifically to support the Dalit community.  Dalit, meaning “oppressed” in South Asia, is the self-chosen political name of castes in the SAARC region which are “untouchable”.  Thdalit imagee Life Association was set up to support and tackle the injustice brought upon these people who are abused and considered lower then animals in India. http://www.lifeassociation.org.uk

For over 3000 years the Dalits – or Untouchables – have been positioned at the bottom of Indias’ society and are subject to the most aggressive and dehumanising abuse. They are born into a culture that devalues them from birth with society considering them lower than animals. The term ‘Dalit’ literally translates to downtrodden or oppressed and there are 250 million Dalits who are exposed to this injustice.
